Reggae & Rock, Jazz, Salsa & Soul in the open air as Jam House musicians take the stage in St Pauls Square on the afternoon of Saturday 11th July.
The line-up for this year’s JQ Festival on the St Pauls Square stage is:
BRYAN CORBETT JAZZ COLLECTIVE – Starting the afternoon off with some Jazz with the Bryan Corbett Jazz Collective.
LOU WARREN BAND – Lou Warren’s magnificent vocals have provided range and power to many well-known UK Soul recordings over the past twenty years. Here she fronts her own band, bringing to life some of her favourite hits from the past two decades and featuring tracks from her recent project.
THIRTY MINUTES OF… DIANA ROSS – Get ready for a night of non-stop hits and feel-good vibes as vocalist, Elle J Walters & her band brings the iconic sounds of Diana Ross to life! With stunning vocals, glamorous costumes, and all the crowd-pleasing classics – from “You Can’t Hurry Love” to the likes of “Upside Down” and so many more
RED LEMONS – Originally the Red Lemons Electric Blues Band, this band of superbly accomplished and very individual musicians come together to perform a vast range of soul & funk favourites from the likes of Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, and Stevie Wonder to Alicia Keys, Duffy, and Plan B.
THIRTY MINUTES OF… SINATRA – Edgar Macías has also adapted some well-known Big Band arrangements of Ol’ Blue Eyes’and you can be excused for believing Jay Oxenham really is the “Chairman of the board”!
LATINMOTION – LatinMotion has been feature of the Jam House regular salsa evenings for the best part of twenty years. Today, they bring their dance workshop display to the stage, playing a mix of salsa, merengue, tango, compas, bossa nova and bachata. This has been a popular festival feature every year!
Edgar Macías Sextet plays Buena Vista Social Club – Edgar Macías Quintet’s “take” on this eponymously named album and rendition of it. Every track has been re-arranged and adapted for the Latin Jazz Quintet format.
Trojan Records Celebration – Trojan Records has been the home of Reggae music for over 50 years and this afternoon the Gabbidon Band will perform many of the label’s greatest hits.
The Black Jeans – Bringing the day to a close are The Black Jeans, an energetic four piece playing some of the most iconic sing along Anthems from the last few decades.
Live music on the square starts at 12.30pm and The Jam House will be serving cold beverages and street food all afternoon.
