BBC Introducing LIVE at the Jam House with BBC 1Xtra

Doors open at 12.30pm

This event is curated by the BBC and the open mic is strictly over 18’s – anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and leave the venue by 8pm.

BBC Introducing LIVE & 1Xtra will take over The Jam House for the 1Xtra open mic, networking sessions, a panel and an industry feedback centre to get your music heard.

This event will offer young MC’s, rappers & artists the chance to network with key industry platers and receive personal feedback on their music.

The event will start with an exciting panel on how BBC Introducing can help you as an artist. In the feedback centre you can have a one to one with key industry players & BBC 1Xtra. Bring your music with you. The music professionals can provide valuable feedback to help you refine your craft.

Introducing & 1Xtra will host an open mic for rappers, MC’s & singers. The best performances will get played on BBC Introducing on 1Xtra, the radio station amplifies black music and Culture, including hip hop and R&B, so your music will need to fit this.

You can play your music from your phone, we have a PA and also have a piano & drumkit if there are live elements to your music.

Since its inception, BBC Introducing has championed unsigned British musicians through the BBC Introducing Uploader, with 23 local radio shows and six national shows on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Asian Network, and 6 Music.  Many successful artists, including Ed Sheeran, Raye, Olivia Dean, Sam Fender, and Loyle Carner, began their careers with support from BBC Introducing.

BBC 1Xtra was launched in 2002 to be the UK’s home of new Black music and 22 years later, 1Xtra stands strong in its mission to amplify Black music and culture. BBC 1Xtra is the number 1 station in the UK for Black artist discovery and has helped catapult the careers of many now iconic, Black, British artists including Stormzy, Wretch 32, and Skepta, as well as Mahalia, Ella Mai and Little Simz.

Over the past 22 years, BBC 1Xtra has been fundamental in bringing genres like Grime, RnB, Garage, Jungle, Dancehall, Afrobeat, Hip Hop and Drill into mainstream music, and given UK rap a major platform.
